Jule Styne, Hank Mancini, Cole Porter
Were going to run for the border
But they nixed all their plans
When they saw corn dog stands
And decided the Fair was in order

Sylvia Mohn, St. Paul, MN

"Oh No! My fair pup," Loewe decried
They've tossed you in fat to be fried!"
Once he tasted the pup
He just gobbled it up
"Do little else, it's perfect," he sighed

Sylvia Mohn, St. Paul, MN

King Henry wanted to gloat
So he set sail in his fabulous boat.
He wished to sail 'round the world
Instead he just whirled
Around and around in the moat.

Bob Goligowski, Brooklyn Park, MN

One time at the fair Philip Glass
Conducted a minimal class.
Some guy from Moscow
Visiting Osseo
Wrote up the whole thing for Tass.

Greg Kundert, Detroit Lakes, MN

Mozart At The Fair

Mozart was smart
For he called food on a stick "art".
But he overindulged.
His tummy did bulge.
And he exclaimed "I believe I must fart!"

Richard Roof, St. Paul, MN

George Frederich says our Fair is grand
And he dances from stand to stand
With his mouth full of food
He says, "Isn't this gut?...
The best part -
All foods have a Handel!"

Lisa Luciano, Lester Prairie, MN

Ravel arrived at the Fair-o
Sporting a nifty Bolero
But, like his song,
His stay lasted too long,
And his belt he can no longer wear-o.

Lisa Luciano, Lester Prairie, MN

A composer whose first name was Ludwig
Went to Minnesota's State Fair that was so big
The sheep pens were near
So a sheep he did shear
And went home with a big fuzzy white wig.

Steve Rowley, Duluth, MN

A Parisian who came to the fair
Had hoped to win blue with his air.
But the judge didn't know
A gavotte from a hoe.
"I protest!" said Monsieur Hotteterre!

Paul Jacobson, St. Paul, MN

A Parisian once came to the fair
Singing "Je m'apelle Jacques Hotteterre."
But most folks looked askance
At his Frenchified prance
'Round the Midway in silk underwear.

Paul Jacobson, St. Paul, MN
