There once was a composer name Bach
Who stopped by the State Fair for a brat
When he jammed with the bands
Who played the grandstands
He said, "Are you ready to rock!"

Dave Leppanen, Mahtomedi, MN

Near the Grandstand, Sir Benjamin Britten
With the merry-go-round had been smitten;
While Sergei Rachmaninoff
Kept getting on and off
Britten, still smitten, stayed sittin'.

Chris Brunelle, Northfield, MN

Composer on A Stick

He rode thru the Fair on his 3-wheeler
Our Composer , Garrison Keillor
When asked,"What is this?"
He spat and he hissed:
"Pogostick got recalled by the dealer!"

Tom Larsen, St. Paul, MN

Rossini the Opera King
left his portly wife for a wee thing
though he thought the scheme splendid
at the State Fair it ended
'cause man, could that fat lady swing

Keith Chrysler, St. Louis Park MN

Aaron went to the Fair hoping
to see some right fancy steer roping
The Rodeo guys
caught the gaze from his eyes
and snuck out for good Aaron Copling.

Keith Chrysler, St. Louis Park MN

Paul McCartney at the fair did compete.
He showed off seed art tout de suite.
His picture of Elvis,
left all judges breathless.
The blue ribbon was fait accompli!

Gayle Larson, Burnsville, MN

In came a visitor named Schumann
To see the butter made woman.
But the day was to hot
And she'd melted a lot
And sadly looked barely human.

William Smith, Bemidji, MN

Since his music was lively and fast,
Edvard Grieg thought the Fair was a blast.
He found lefse and cheese but was less than pleased
His lutefisk on a stick didn't last

Wayne Tellekson, Mendota Heights, MN

Old Johann Sebastian Bach,
put his clavichord into hock.
The money he spent
on a State Fair tent,
and on sticks sells bagels and locs.

Cathy Ameel, Duluth, MN

George Fredrick Handel did really love treats;
And wrote his music to be also quite "suite."
But he went to the fair
And took a spin in The Chair,
And his treats ended up at his feet!

Barb Dock, St. Paul, MN
