There was a composer named Bach
Who secretly loved classic rock
He went to the fair
And what he heard there
Made Bach want to rock around the clock

Evelyn Williamson, Pardeeville, WI

A fairgoer, named Ludvig Van
For admission came up with a plan.
This ingenious Beethoven,
When tired of shovin'
Declared "Hey - I'm here with the band!"

Elizabeth Balay, Edina, MN

At the midway old John Philip Sousa
Tried the games, but was always a lousa.
"I'd give a Liberty Bell
To play one of them well,
It's enough to make someone a booza."

Brian Dean, New Brighton, MN

An Italian composer, Rossini,
Searched the fair for a dish of linguini.
But the Magpie had thieved,
So Rossini, he grieved,
And made do with a stick-impaled weenie.

Brian Dean, New Brighton, MN

At the state fair composer Scarlatti,
Over-did on the ice-cold gelati,
As he ran down the street
He was heard to repeat,
"Stand aside from that blue porta potty!"

Brian Dean, New Brighton, MN

To the state fair went Franz Jospeh Hayden,
He spent hours there eatin' and ridin',
He bought snow cones to lick,
And ate foods on a stick --
He got fat from the oil they were fried in.

Bonnie Dean, New Brighton, MN

A madrigal maker named Dowling
Left the Midway all frowning and scowling.
"I want pianissimo,
Instead it's fortissimo,
On those rides they're ALL screaming and howling!"

Bonnie Dean, New Brighton, MN

In the crafts hall old Benjamin Britten
By the elegant knittin' was smitten.
So he left Peter Pears
All alone on the stairs
Where he passed the time sittin' and snittin'.

Bonnie Dean, New Brighton, MN

There once was a composer named Puccini,
who was looking for sausage and blini.
He went to the fair
and searched all the foods there,
and settled for pancakes and weenies.

Barb Hutchinson, Blaine, MN

There once was a composer, Rachmaninoff,
who's headlights kept flashing both on and off.
Then at the State Fair
he found a booth, where
he lit on a gadget quite good enough.

Barb Hutchinson, Blaine, MN
