From the Dead sang Garcia
I'd be quite grateful to see ya
Try the em en Fair
I'll sure be there
We'll eat of food, fricasseea

Jim Gabrielson, Hanover, MN

Bach went to the Fair to see seed art
but the Dairy House pulled him off chart
He saw a princess of butter
That made his heart flutter
Though frozen she melted his heart.

Kari Margolis, Minneapolis, MN

Bach came to the fair with intention;
To write a new 2-part invention.
He ate and he chewed;
Too much fat, greasy food.
Now he's doing some things we can't mention.

Judy Florence, Eau Claire, WI

A German composer named Mahler;
Arrived at the fair with one dollar.
We're pleased to report;
He drank milk by the quart.
An example for others to foller!

Judy Florence, Eau Claire, WI

When asked in he liked our State Fair,
bay-TOW-ven replied, with a glare.
"A Band played my Third;
It was gross and absurd;
I'm leaving right now, Fist Class Air!"

Judy Florence, Eau Claire, WI

On a trip to the State Fair, Herr Mozart
Lamented its culinary beaux-arts:
"Chicken liver on a stick
May not make me sick,
But I draw the line at a goat's heart!"

Adam Kintopf, St. Paul, MN

In the swine barn—the State Fair's pig ghetto—
Verdi praised himself ad infinito.
Asked the bore to a boar,
"Which do you like more
My 'Aïda,' or my 'Rigoletto'?"

Adam Kintopf, St. Paul, MN

While munching a bag of roast filberts,
From the fowl barn Sir Arthur heard shrill birds.
"Beastly squawking," he spat;
"Still, I'd rather set that
Than more ludicrous prattling of Gilbert's."

Adam Kintopf, St. Paul, MN

One day at the fair Sir Ben Brittain
By great inspiration was smitten
He scribbled the score
For Requiem of War
I think it's the best thing he's written

Russ Bremner, Minneapolis, MN

Mussorgsky was on a Fair mission
to see modest cows his ambition
but sadly for him
the room was quite dim
He'd pictured a bright Exhibition.

Keith Chrysler, St. Louis Park, MN
