To the tune of: "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"
The holidays are coming soon
The holidays are coming soon
The holidays are coming soon
All too soon
I haven't bought presents
My gifts will stink as usual
My parents will think of disowning me
And I'll be broke like every other year.

Michael Wimmer, Little Falls, MN

To the tune of: "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"
We'll Sing a Christmas Carol

We'll sing you this Christmas carol,
We'll sing you this Christmas carol,
We'll sing you this Christmas carol,
But you will not like it.

This song is for you,
And we love you too
So have a Great Christmas
And a beefy good stew.

Beth Kiley, Bowlus, MN

To the tune of: "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"
Come drink a little egg nog
Come drink a little egg nog
Come drink a little egg nog
And celebrate with me

The food that we eat
Will bring you a smile
And sharing our presents
Then we'll sing for awhile

Robert Nash, Upsala, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
Listen to the people sing,
And how sweet the church bells ring.
The church is bright and filled with joy,
All because of a baby boy.
The wisemen came from afar,
But they didn't drive a car.
The minister speaks of Jesus,
How he came to live with us.
Listen to the people sing,
And how sweet the church bells ring.

Cynthia Hadley, Upsala, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
Dark it is in late December,
Sun sets ere the workday's done.
Pale commuters can't remember
When they last beheld the sun.
If you work in an enclosure,
You'll get zero sun exposure.
Counteract the cheerless nights...
Sit before a bank of lights.
Dark it is, but don't be tense,
Spring equinox is three months hence.

There's no need to play the martyr
If your skin is wan and pale.
Pack your bag and grab a charter
For the land of sun and sail.
When the temperatures are falling,
You can hear Cancun a-calling.
Don your shades and hit the beach!
Keep SPF within your reach.
Dark it is, but don't be glum.
Soon this shall pass, and spring will come.

Anne Jeddeloh, Plymouth, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
Mark! The Jewelry and Bling-Bling

Mark the jewelry and bling-bling,
Santa is here, I wonder what he'll bring.
Wrapping paper in her hair,
As all of us watch and stare.
Cheerful laughs begin to rise,
As the boys are hit with pies.
The janitors come in disguise.
"The look of Christmas in their eyes."
Mark the jewelry and bling-bling,
Santa is here, I wonder what he'll bring.

Kayla Erickson, Burtrum, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
Refrain: Load the car, where are the kids?
Pack the trunks and close the lids;

Get the presents, wrap them up,
Where's the baby's sippy cup?
Every year it's just the same,
Pack and travel, it's so lame.
It seems we go there every year,
Why can't they just come up here?

Refrain

When we get there you get stressed,
By the way my family's dressed.
You claim they all dress like heck,
And my Dad's a big redneck.
I hate your mother, so you say,
Why does she laugh that way?

Refrain

I know you hate my Auntie Mack,
You fight with her and Uncle Jack.
Why can't you just get along?
Why would that be so wrong?
Let's not do this next year,
We'll just stay and fight right here.

Refrain

Marlin Peterson, Minneapolis, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
Political Lament

Where is Jesse when you need him,
Bald dome shining in the sun?
Bluff and bluster, temper tantrum,
He's the guy to get things done.
Navy Seal and wrestling wonder,
Suit and tie all torn asunder,
Playboy interviews he did,
Talk shows, too. Oh, what a kid!
Jesse left us in the dust,
Minnesota might go bust!

California now has Arnold.
He's the one to save the day.
Borrow money in the billions,
Don't you worry, you will pay!
Terminator, show biz wonder,
Cool accent and thighs like thunder!
Grand Old Party, friend of Bush,
Pretty wife and what a tush!
Arnold and his buns of steel-
California, such a deal!

Haine Crown, Rochester, MN

To the tune of: "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"
Snowy Christmas

A snowy Christmas we hope for
A snowy Christmas we hope for
A snowy Christmas we hope for
And a new snowmobile

Fun sledding we do
Just my friends and I
Fun sledding in powder
With my new snowmobile

Stephen Roerick, Swanville, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
Mark! the little drummer boy,
Opens up his brand new toys.
His face full of big smiles,
Put the wrappings in a pile.
As the night nears the end,
He hopes his new presents will blend.
The holiday has come and gone,
That children wait for all year long.
Mark! the little drummer boy,
Opens up his brand new toys.

Katie Lange, Freeport, MN
