To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
"Crash! The Kittens Are at Play"
Refrain: Crash! The kittens are at play,
Chaos to our house they bring.

Climb the tree, from branches swing,
To the floor the tinsel fling!
Joyful, all ye felines leap,
While the humans try to sleep,
That heirloom bulb will ne'er be found,
Now the star comes tumbling down!"

Refrain

Fluffy, bright-eyed, big-eared trouble;
Tabby, calico, and blue;
Late at night, behold them stalk,
Stockings stuffed with crayons and chalk.
Candies roll across the floor;
Chased by batting paws galore,
There go Daddy's new golf balls,
Down the heat shaft they do fall.

Refrain

Hail the conquerors of Christmas!
Hail the cute wee dervishes!
Presents wrapped are not so fun,
Much, much better all undone.
Mild they curl up in a pile,
Innocent of any guile,
Born to show us true love lies,
Not in things but sparkling eyes.

Refrain

Paula Fleming, Minneapolis, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
Hark! The marketing giants sing,
"You all need to buy new things;
'Finding Nemo', and 'Girls Gone Wild',
Bring your mom and bring your child!"
Joyful, all ye companies rise,
Join the triumph over little guys;
With th' New York Stock Exchange,
Economies grow, when people pay!

Refrain

Hark! The marketing conglomerates sing,
"You all need to buy new things!"

"Get me that Lord of the Rings sword,
Not the book, it makes me bored!"
This alone might perplex us,
How 'bout buying your spouse a Lexus?
Veiled in material wealth and greed,
Are more things we don't really need.
What is all this buying for?
Wal-Mart and Target: They want more!

Refrain

Hark! The piggish giants sing,
"You all need to buy new things!"

"Should I get George Foreman's grill?"
"If that won't work, Emeril's sauces will!"
Suzy wants My Little Pony,
Charlie wants a system by Sony!
On all things our emphasis be,
Just to place beneath a tree.
What ever happened to time and love?
Give gifts from the heart and above!

Refrain
Hark! Ye global citizens sing,
"Corporate America is NOT the King!"

Jeffrey Ayer, Forest Lake, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
I want to have some food
I want to have some food
I want to have some food
With lefsa and deer

Fine food we'll eat
With friends and Spam
Fine times we will have
And deer we will eat

Andy Benson, Upsala, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
Refrain: Wonder what I'm gettin' for Christmas,
"Children starvin'in Afghanistan;

What to get for my Aunt Martha,
How to stop the war in Sudan!"
Santa at mall, not much longer,
National defense, we are much stronger;
How much more on the credit card,
"Immigrants stay out of our yard!"

Refrain

How much money can I spend;
Killing terrorists is the trend;
Gotta go light the Christmas tree,
Ruling other nations gives ecstasy.
What drinks to serve at the party;
Hail th'King of Democracy,
A car or diamonds say the ads,
Merry Christmas to Baghdad.

Refrain

We are still two presents short!
In the name of God is our retort!
Rush to the mall before it closes,
All corrupt leaders, we deposes.
So on Christmas, Praise the Lord,
Give him thanks that we don't horde.
It's Christ's birthday, let's remember,
Peace just ain't one day in December.

Refrain

John Herbertz, Duluth, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
Friends and Family Gather 'Round
1. Refrain: Friends and family gather 'round,
Soon the food will all be gone.

Start the day in kitchen regalia,
I just burnt my best spatula.
Gravy's lumpy, needs a sieving;
Hide the almond in rice pudding.
Set the napkins, call the guests,
For such a spread we would not miss.
Refrain

2. Light the candles, make the toast,
Glasses raised to our great hosts.
Shameless in our loving praise,
Turkey done, the ham is glazed.
Lefsa, butter, all rolled up;
Cabbage, pudding, now we're stuffed.
Shortbread, candies, I'm impressed,
No one can move, now we must rest.

Refrain

3. After dinner we retire,
Grandpa snoring by the fire.
Tales of far-gone Christmas days,
Back in mother's younger age.
Get our coats to say goodbye,
Arms outstretched, thanks for the pie!
Next year twinkling in our minds,
Guided home by starry sky.

Refrain

Kate Lundquist, St. Paul, MN

To the tune of: "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"
He'll ride on the sleigh tonight
He'll ride on the sleigh tonight
He'll ride on the sleigh tonight
with a bag full of toys

He'll bring all the toys to the good girls and boys,
He'll bring them all presents on Christmas day.

We'll leave him some chocolate cookies
We'll leave him some chocolate cookies
We'll leave him some chocolate cookies
and a big glass of milk.

Jamie Talberg, Pierz, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
"Hark! All Hockey Moms Arise"

Hark all hockey moms arise,
Bless your love and sacrifice.

Get them to the rink on time,
Sometimes four or six or nine.
Joyful that we packed the cup,
And the sticks, and socks and pucks.
With angelic smiles they pose,
Melt our hearts and warm our toes.
Hark all hockey moms arise,
Bless your love and sacrifice.

To the locker room real quick,
Tie your skates and tape your stick.
Stretch and bend and look to see,
Do you have your game jersey?
To the ice they all will go,
Off to face another foe.
Please God keep them safe from harm,
No one breaks another arm.

Hark all hockey moms arise,
Bless your love and sacrifice.

Our last game's in overtime,
Getting the win would be sublime.
Cheer and yell and scream and shout
That's what our job's all about.
Please don't score on my little boy,
He's as good as Patrick Roy.
Win or lose or even tie,
We'll love you till the day we die.

Hark all hockey moms arise,
Bless your love and sacrifice.

Stephanie Pentz Randolph Waite Park, MN

To the tune of: "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"
The Ballad of the Latke and the Lefse
(As told by the Jew and the Finn)
The latke and the lefse
Oyvay, we won't forget ya
Ya ya, for sure, you betcha
Traditions run deep

The bauby does the toil
We fry them well in oil
For each potato latke
A Hanukkah treat

CHORUS
A family affair
Prepared in a flash
For a fine festive meal
A true holiday bash

Riced potatoes, flour and water
Rolled just like muuma taught her
Passed on to son and daughter
Our Christmas lefse

It really doesn't matter
What e're holiday batter
Will help you to feel fatter
Its the holiday way

CHORUS
Every culture
Has its cuisine
Creating high spirits
For each holiday scene

The latke and the lefse
Oyvay, we won't forget ya
Ya ya for sure you betcha
At holiday time

Diane Mintz & Deb Ukura, Golden Valley, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
The Dog Park Christmas Song
Bark! The doggie angels sing
Watching over pups playing.
Peace in the park, where dogs run wild
While their people stand and smile
Chase those balls and fetch those sticks
In a place where all breeds mix.
Bark! The doggie angels sing
Watching over pups playing.

Mary Kay Watson and Debbie Wygal, St. Paul, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
BOOM! went Santa down the chimney,
And the reindeer were so clingy.
The elves were making toys,
To bring all the kids Christmas joys.

All the children are sappy,
Because Christmas makes them happy.
Christmas is the best time of the year,
Because it brings a lot of cheer.
BOOM! went Santa down the chimney,
And the reindeer were so clingy.

Ben Burggraff, Upsala, MN
