To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
The Lamp
There's a lamp upon the hearth
that holds special memories
generations now long gone
special friends and family.

It illuminates the past
all those things that cannot last
Grandma baking gingerbread
Grandpa reading by the bed
flickers hope for those unborn
shining on till early morn

Verse 2
Reminiscing by the fire
as I string the Christmas lights
shadows dance across the logs
from the oil lamp tonight.
It illuminates my life
all those things without a price
children laughing as they play
dreams of Santa Christmas Day
flickers hope for those unborn
shining on till early morn.

Doni Bahr, Pine River, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
(Ok, it's kind of a nerdy theme for a holiday song -- but someone had to rhyme Hark with Quark)

(refrain) Quark, neutrino, and positron sing,
Glory to the superstring!

A piece of earth, a galaxy spiraled,
Small and large are reconciled.
Joyful all equations rise,
Joining quanta and the skies
With Einsteinian boast proclaim
?It's a unified field, all the same!?

(refrain)

Strings, long doubted, now adored,
Strings, the everlasting chord;
Late in time, the breakthroughs come,
M-Theory is the newest one.
Veiled in foam, the multiverse see,
Hail universal chirality,
Pleased, as muon at light speed to dwell
In dimensional coils of Calabi-Yau

(refrain)

Hail! our era's physicists!
Hail! intellectual genesis!
Light and life from strings vibrating,
A cosmic symphony they ring,
Mild we lay this story by to
Posit that faith need not here die.
Born, we're sung like stars and earth
Born to give mind second birth.

(refrain)

Jennifer Deane, Morris, MN

To the tune of: "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"
I Can't Wait Till Christmas

I can't wait till Christmas
I can't wait till Christmas
I can't wait till Christmas
It's the best time of year

I'll wake up at six
And head to the tree
I can't wait till Christmas
And the presents it brings

Crystal Dietrich, Upsala, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
Mark, My Word It's Christmas Time

Mark my word it's Christmas time.
Many gifts they're always mine.
Cars and toys are joyous gifts.
Men and women shop in shifts.
Hustle, bustle shop, shop, shop!
Farmers have no time for crops.
Husband don't forget your wife.
Give her a gift she'll love for life.
Mark my work it's Christmas time.
Many gifts they're always mine.

Janelle Kiley, Holdingford, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
Come and See!

Come with us! Come and see,
Joseph and Mary's new baby.
Bring a gift, a sacrifice,
It can be any price.
All you have to do is come,
It would mean a lot to his mom.
All your sheep, goats, and the cow,
Bring them with you so they can bow.
Come with us! Come and see,
Joseph and Mary's new baby.

Summer Raatikka, Bowlus, MN

To the tune of: "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"
Oh Wal-Mart is very busy
Oh Wal-Mart is very busy
Oh Wal-Mart is very busy
Its the best the of year

The shopping you do
with minutes so few
Lots of presents to buy
with presents so high.

Matt Swanson, Swanville, MN

To the tune of: "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"
Christmas is very near now
Yes, Christmas is very near now
Yes, Christmas is very near now
I need to go shopping.

Wal-Mart is Christmas
Is ever so crazy
I'm scared to go in there
But sometime I will.

The mall is busy
It's worse than Wal-Mart
The people are crazy
And there's nowhere to park.

Amy Gunderson, Upsala, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
Wow! The chicken looks so good.
I hope it is not like wood.
Salt and pepper make it spicy.
Grandpa is feisty.
What will we do? Lights are out!
Kids are screaming all about!
I'm just kidding 'bout that line.
Next year be my Valentine.
Wow! The chicken looks so good.
I hope it is not like wood.

Jamie Fleischhacker, Upsala, MN

To the tune of: "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"
I live in a little household,
I live in a little household,
I live in a little household,
With a tree in the room,
The cupboards are full,
For us to dig in,
We dance in the bright light,
With a tree in the room.

Ashley Vos, Bowlus, MN

To the tune of: "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"
The Christmas tree, Full of light,
Just for you and me all night.
Little ones will play all day,
Just to see it pass away.
Hopeful child will rise in morning,
Only to find the gifts are boring,
And to eat the chicken all day,
Licking sugar off the tray.
The Christmas tree, full of light.

Jessica Koopmeiners, Upsala, MN

To the tune of: "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"
Let's build a pretty snowman
Let's build a pretty snowman
Let's build a pretty snowman
With all the white snow

Sweet blessings you see
In an evergreen tree
Full of snow and bright lights
On this wonderful night

Hannah Olson, Swanville, MN
