There was a composer named Bach.
Took his kids to the fair, went in hock.
When you have over twenny
The cost is not funny
If you see him be gracious, don't mock.

Erik Meade, Minneapolis, MN

There was a composer named Ludwig
Who wanted to see a really big pig.
So he went to the fair
And boy - did he stare!
The big pig was cleaner than his wig!

Pam Goehring, Burnsville, MN

The august Mr. Erik Satie
laughed his way through the fun house with me.
Then, corn dog in hand
he conducted a band,
threw the stick in the air and yelled, "Whee!"

Susan Fuller, Shoreview, MN

With his "Requiem" finally done,
Gabriel was all set for some fun,
He put on his blue jeans,
"C'mon, Jean Racine!"
Faure's State Fair foray had begun.

Jean Johansson, Minneapolis, MN

Vivaldi took a trip to the fair
but honestly, it was on a dare
Anthony soon reasoned
Minnesota - Four Seasons!
Who knew we inspired this bear?

Anna Thompson, Austin, TX

For P.D.Q. Bach and Pete Schickele
The day at the fair passed by quick-ely.
After music and rides,
They o'erstuffed their insides
And went home, feeling both a bit sick-ely

Christopher Bradford, Brooklyn Park, MN

Der Meister Swingers

Rick Wagner said, "This is the fall,
when I'll give my friend Siegfried a call
we will go to the fair,
and meet Brunhilde there,
and a good time will be had by all."

Robert Mack, Hampton, VA

There once was a composer named Dick
Whose operas were long and quite thick
To the Fair he did trot
And ate a whole lot
and then wrote "Lohengrin on a Stick"

Ellen Snoxell, St. Paul, MN

Is that Bach I see over there
Eating greasy corn dogs by the pair?
Did he just say 'Ya Sure'
As he ate those cheese curds?
Ah... Behold the power of the fair!

Scott Krieger, Lino Lakes, MN

Haydn visited the food booths he relished
Soon like chords, his appetite diminished
Mini-donuts he thought
would sure hit the spot
But like Schubert he left them unfinished

Bruce Christensen, Duluth, MN
