To Minnesota came Lerner and Lowe
to enter the Fair's great talent show
Their song on a stick
did just the trick
A first prize and the home they did go.

Suzanne Carlson, Shoreview, MN

There once was a man called Haydn
the love of his life was slidin'
So he came to our Fair
and climbed up the stairs
then flew down on gunny sack ridin'.

Suzanne Carlson, Shoreview, MN

When Pachelbel needed inspiration,
He fired off this notification:
"I'm off to the state fair.
Will write a canon from there.
I'm baroque but really need the vacation!"

Cindy Hanner, Quimby, IA

The composer, Benjamin Britten
With Princess Kay was indeed smitten
He said, "Kay, I love milk!"
Butr she turned down his ilk
Which left Benjy less-than-great Britten.

Willard Shapira, Minneapolis, MN

Young Chopin arrived at the fair
A fashion plate, chic, debonair
He dashed off some waltzes
Midst curds, sticks and salsas
While keeping his cool "savoir faire"

David Kennedy, Minnesota, MN

When Mozart beheld Princess Kay,
His heart was just carried away.
"I may stammer and stutter
"But my love it is utter.
"But please lose the butter, OK?"

David Kennedy, Minnesota, MN

Zeloso Forte or Appetite Morte?

Salted orange sardine malts give good reason
Refined palates would scream, "This is treason!"
He loves garlic with custard
Waffle cones laced with mustard
Yes...Vivaldi's a Man For ALL Seasons

George Bigelow, Vadnais Heights, MN

Debussey arrived with a flair
To check out the musical fare.
" If they play Clair de Lune
" I will gag with a spoon.

David Kennedy, Minneapolis, MN

His Bolero was new and thus defined as 'neoteric'
Maurice Ravel was very much maligned and so hysteric
But he'd swear away back then
At the fair I may crack Ten
As they cheer the hair, the front and the behind of Bo Derek

Arthur Mendelsohn, Moorestown, NJ

To the state fair came a fellow named Ives
To pursue his love of potatoes 'n chives.
To his delight he discovered,
Well over one hundred,
Ways of serving his gastronomic prize.

Chuck Thompson, Brooklyn Park, MN
