Corn dogs, cheese curds and beer
Beethoven loved it all it was clear
he watched all the racing,
and jam and jelly tasting
but the bandshell he just couldn't hear

Marcy Huggins, Plymouth, MN

Said Johann, "My FUGUE is now done.
A day at THE FAIR should be fun!"
So he watched Puke and Snott
Laughed and said "Oh, mein Gott,
Those guys really know how to pun!"

Betty Knutson, River Falls, WI

Herr Beethoven, deaf in both ears,
Couldn't hear the applause and the cheers.
So he said, "I don't care!
I'll just go to THE FAIR,
Have a Pronto Pup and a few beers."

Betty Knutson, River Falls, WI

Fairly Fat
Mr. Haydn finally faced
The sins of his fair-going taste
For the snacks he'd devour
Had great staying power
Which now he must wear round his waist!

Pat Helmberger, Bloomington, MN

At the fair lurked a composer named Chopin,
Who stole walleye-on-a-stick from a fryman,
It went without fail,
They sent him to jail,
And now he eats fish in the can.

Mike Biedermann, Austin, MN

As he finished a symphony, Weber
Saw the fruits of our farmers' hard labor,
So he wrote a new coda
Called "Hail, Minnesota!"
And won the award for Good Neighbor.

Chris Brunelle, Northfield, MN

Mozart went to the State Fair church diner,
Remarked that he'd had nothing finer.
While eating cheese curds
He wrote a Song Without Words
And finished with a Mass in E Minor!

Monica Mendez, Rockford, MN

Bach's musical mind hit a brick,
But in the cow barns, the moo's did the trick.
"There's no music truer"
Till he slid in manuer,
Now he prefers beef on a stick!

Monica Mendez, Rockford, MN

Claude Debussy, at the fair
Tried the water park rides that were there.
Although drenched, cold and tired,
He was greatly inspired
To write his grand opus "La Mer."

Joe Fishbein, West St. Paul, MN

A Wittenberg hymnist named Marty
Arrived at the fair a bit tardy.
He said, "Hymns take work
And I'm not one to shirk,
But I also enjoy a good party."

Mike Sherer, Minneapolis, MN
