There once was a Deutschman called Bruch,
Who came to the fair for a look.
He soon got addicted
To things that were "stick-ted",
And went home with much more than he took!

Mary Stevens, Arden Hills, MN

Said Monsieur Debussy at the fair
As he stopped in amazement to stare,
"How impresh'nestique,
These dogs on a steek;
For them I shall write a fanfare."

Rita Moe, Roseville, MN

At the fair Wagner said of his Rings,
"I need a finale that zings.
Mein Himmel!" he cried,
As he munched food deep-fried,
"It's done when the fat lady sings!"

Rita Moe, Roseville, MN

To the State Fair went Modest Mussorgsky
At the Hippodrome exhibited a horsky
The equine was fine
Pranced in four-quarter time
And won a blue ribbon, of coursky!

Sue Hytjan, Lake Crystal, MN

At the grandstand, Herr Mozart got snooty
Saying, "Rock music is no thing of beauty.
I hate all that chaos!"
Sniffed young Amadeus,
"I much prefer Cosi Fan Tutte."

Cheryl Margoles, St. Louis Park, MN

On top of the Wheel of the Ferris,
rode a musical genius named Harris.
It squeaked and then stopped, leaving him on the top, this sure beats An Evening in Paris!!

Kathy Colling, Jordan, MN

The artist we once knew as Prince
Was daydreaming as he hummed Liszt
While composing a testament
He slipped in cow excrement
And dashed home for a clean and a rinse

Annemarie Bossert, Stillwater, MN

Of the Fair, said a fella' named Mozart
I'll pass up the horses and goats part
Because I'm feeling needy
For the room that is "seedy"
Filled with portraits--the barley and oats art.

Sally Kratz, Minneapolis, MN

The upstate folk master Bob Dylan
Came back for the fair 'cause it's thrillin'
He said, "food on a stick
Could make fair-goers sick
But not blowin' in the wind, good Lord willin'."

Sally Kratz, Minneapolis, MN

At the produce exhibit said Duncan
"My entry's this very large punkin
I hope the award
For this gigantic gourd's
An MPR bag to put all my junk in."

Sally Kratz, Minneapolis, MN
