To the tune of: "O Christmas Tree"
O Construction Zone, O Destruction Zone!
The SUVs, so errant!
O Construction Zone, O Obstruction Zone!
Hope drivers are being observant!

Always working on 55,
In the summer and wintertime.
O Construction Zone, O Confusion Zone,
MnDot won't leave you perfect!

O Construction Zone, Woe-Production Zone,
Displeasure doth thou bring me!
O Construction Zone O Depression Zone,
Road leisure am I missing!

For every year the Construction Zone
Is signaled by the Orange Cone.
O Construction Zone, No-Completion Zone,
Paved treasure's a thing unseen!

O Construction Zone, Car-Rejection Zone,
Thy Yellow Flashing Arrows!
O Construction Zone, O Dysfunction Zone,
With Light-Reflecting Barrels!

Lane Ends, please Merge to the Right,
Or we will idle here all night.
O Construction Zone, O Destruction Zone,
Makes me sing angry carols!

To the tune of: "O Christmas Tree"
(sung with a fun Norwegian accent)
Nor-vegan food at Christmas time
It's healthy, strict, and spartan.
Tomatoes, beans, and whole grain rice--
There's nothing from a carton!
Meatless by choice, there is no place
For eating food which had a face.
We smile good cheer - shed not a tear -
Nor-vegans win the health race.

Nor-vegan feasts at Christmas time
find desserts very dandy.
Who needs French silk or pecan pie?
Raisins are our candy.
We stand up tall - we're proud of this
Nor-vegan touch to every dish.
We smile and nod - go for a jog -
Nor-vegans have their Christmas wish.

Nor-vegans eat at Christmas time
the very best nutrition.
For chocolate, cookies, or whipped cream
we never are a'wishin'.
No butter shall get past our lips.
Doughnuts live not upon our hips.
We smile a lot - our oatmeal's hot -
Just ask for more Nor-vegan tips.

To the tune of: "O Christmas Tree"
O Winter Peace, sweet winter peace!
How much we need your sweet song!
O Winter Peace, sweet winter peace,
To you our hearts do belong!
You cover us with winter's snow,
And bring us home to those we know.
O Winter Peace, sweet winter peace,
To you we raise our voices!

O Winter Peace, sweet winter peace!
Your gift of love we all need!
O Winter Peace, sweet winter peace,
You give a peace we all need!

Another year with questions why,
You bring us hope and dry our eyes.
O Winter Peace like a mother's song,
To you our hearts do belong!

O Winter Peace, sweet winter peace!
Your beauty quiets the pasture!
You white the trees and blur our view,
You blanket all our sorrows!

We welcome you with open arms,
Your silent song we sing along.
O Winter Peace, sweet winter peace!
How much we need your sweet song!

To the tune of: "Deck the Halls"
'Tis the season Christ was born,
Fa la la la la la la la la!
Strike the drum and blow the horn,
Fa la la la la la la la la!
To the town of Bethlehem
Fa la la la la la la la la!
Follow the brand new diadem
Fa la la la la la la la la!

To the stable shepherds came
Fa la la la la la la la la!
Baby Jesus was his name
Fa la la la la la la la la!
Wise men came to bring him treasure
Fa la la la la la la la la!
While the angels sang with pleasure
Fa la la la la la la la la!

So, today we celebrate
Fa la la la la la la la la!
The echoes ring in every state
Fa la la la la la la la la!
In the chorus raise your voice!
Fa la la la la la la la la!
The Savior's come, rejoice!
Fa la la la la la la la la!

Mary Martin, St. Croix Falls, WI

To the tune of: "Deck the Halls"
Fill the air with Christmas singing.
Do you hear what I hear, drummer boy?
Bells of Christmas shall be ringing
on this holy night so full of joy.

Sing Hosanna, sing of glory,
tell it on the mountain loud and clear.
Sing the world the Christmas story.
Come and see the Infant shining here!

(2nd stanza up 1/2 step)
Now's the time for Christmas dancing,
shadows on the frosted window panes,
Christmas carols, so entrancing,
Decorate the tree with candy canes.

Holding hands and mistletoe-ing,
Christmas present, Christmas past.
Christmas Eve and, yes, it's snowing.
Hold your loved ones near and make it last.
(3rd stanza modulate up and slower)
Nearly midnight, children sleeping,
take a quiet cup of Christmas cheer.
No more songs of lords a-leaping.
Christmas morning light will soon be here.

Share the gifts, the love, the laughter,
frolicking, rollicking Christmas morn.
And remember ever after
on this sacred day a King was born.
(extend end of last line - whole notes last three words)

Dominic Castino, Edina, MN
