Now in the North it's the season of the Moon, the pale queen of the dayswallowing night. She marks her land with snow and ice and pours a creeping darkness into all our hearts. But the Earth keeps its orbit, and the Sun moves from the Archer to the Ram. The days grow longer and carry the promise of new life. Winter loses its terror even as we remember--there's no eternal light, there's no everlasting darkness.
