WINEMAKERS DINNER MISSION
The purpose of the Winemakers Dinner is to raise funds to develop and support Minnesota Public Radios outreach programs. In creating this premier dining experience featuring fine wines and gourmet food, Minnesota Public Radio gathers its community of listeners together to draw attention to and celebrate these educational projects. Proceeds from the dinner and silent auction help create programs that build and sustain relationships with educators, their institutions and their students.
SOUND LEARNING
Minnesota Public Radios newest outreach effort is Sound Learning, a project that gives teachers and students access to the best of public radio online -- high-quality reporting, timely information, and arts and culture programming -- for use in the classroom. Designed for educators by educators, Sound Learning is an easy-to-use online tool that was used by more than 2,000 Minnesota teachers during its first year.
The project homepage at www.soundlearning.org
features a powerful search engine that provides
teachers with prioritized audio and text links,
along with the opportunity to receive a monthly
feature on timely subjects and new material
from Minnesota Public Radio. Teachers can also
request a printed Educators Guide that
connects Minnesota Public Radio programming
with curriculum areas. This technical guide
offers tips on using audio in the classroom
and suggestions for effective learning strategies,
including teaching reading comprehension. Sound
Learning jumpstarts teachers' creative use of
Minnesota Public Radio to help them and their
students succeed.
