A Dale Connelly House Concert, Duos: The Power of Two on March 28 at The Fitzgerald Theater

Storyhill, Savoca & Heitzman, Peter & Lou Berryman to perform and chat about being part of a musical duo

February 23, 2009

When: 8 p.m. Saturday, March 28

Where: The Fitzgerald Theater, 10 E. Exchange St., St. Paul

Tickets: $25 and $29. Minnesota Public Radio members receive a discount.

What: Join Radio Heartland host Dale Connelly for a special concert, featuring a trio of duos: Minnesota's Storyhill, New York City's Karen Savoca and Pete Heitzman, and Madison's Peter and Lou Berryman.

Two people can make a big musical sound, whether it's Sam & Dave or The White Stripes. Sometimes the pairs will split like Sonny & Cher and then come back together like Simon & Garfunkel. It's fascinating to listen and to watch. Host Dale Connelly will discuss a range of styles and varied histories of famous duos all while reveling in the simplicity and the power of two.

About Dale Connelly
Dale Connelly is the mastermind behind Radio Heartland—Minnesota Public Radio's 24/7 Web and HD Radio music service. He hosts "The Dale Connelly Show," a weekday morning program on Radio Heartland. Connelly was the longtime co-host Minnesota Public Radio's The Morning Show and the creator of its many characters, which were portrayed by the venerable Jim Ed Poole.

About Storyhill
Acoustic/pop duo Storyhill began in Montana, where Chris Cunningham and John Hermanson grew up and started performing together as teenagers. Their musical passions made them close friends and lifelong musical collaborators and they now call Minnesota home.

About Karen Savoca & Pete Heitzman
This duo first met on a stage and immediately recognized each other as the ideal musical partner. Years of leading their all-original, dance-driven group imbued this duo with the sonic power of a live band, be it pulsing funk or haunting ballad.

About Peter & Lou Berryman
The songwriting style of Peter and Lou Berryman is a throwback to the days of Tin Pan Alley, where one wrote the words, the other the music, and all with complete devotion to the craft. With Peter on guitar, and Lou on the five-string banjo, their early exposure to folk and blues continues to inspire them.
