89.3 The Current and the Citizens League present "Policy and a Pint: Youth and Politics" September 2 at the Varsity Theater, Minneapolis

WHAT: As the Twin Cities play host to the Republican National Convention, Policy and a Pint examines the role of young people in politics. The "Millennials"—born roughly from 1980 to 1994—form a generation of Americans almost equal in numbers to the Baby Boomers. So how are they affecting the political dialogue and what issues matter to them?

89.3 The Current's Steve Seel will lead this installment of Policy and a Pint examining the role of young people in politics. Guests include Ross Douthat and Reihan Salam, editors for The Atlantic and co-authors of Grand New Party: How Conservatives Can Win the Working Class and Save the American Dream; and Dominick Washington, political director for Barack Obama's Minnesota staff.

WHEN: Tuesday, September 2 Doors are at 5:30 p.m.; the program starts at 6 p.m.

Reihan Salam is an associate editor at The Atlantic and a fellow at the New America Foundation. He was previously a producer for NBC News, a junior editor and editorial researcher at The New York Times, a research associate at the Council on Foreign Relations, and a reporter-researcher at The New Republic. He is the co-author of Grand New Party (Doubleday, 2008). He writes regularly on politics, culture, and technology for The Weekly Standard, Slate, and other publications, and he is the editor of "The American Scene," a wide-ranging blog.

About Dominick Washington
Dominick Washington is the political director for Barack Obama's Minnesota staff. He has served as communications manager for Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and was deputy press secretary for former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle from 2000 to 2002. Washington was a delegate to the 2004 Democratic National Convention and has advised political campaigns in Minnesota. Prior to joining the Obama campaign, he was communications director at UnitedHealth Group.
