The Current and WXPN Sample the Twin Cities and Philadelphia Music Scenes with "The Music Exchange"

Throughout July, audiences in the Twin Cities and Philadelphia will get a taste of the other's local music scene

(St. Paul, Minn.)—July 2, 2008—Throughout July, The Current in the Twin Cities and WXPN in Philadelphia will launch a project called "The Music Exchange." The two public radio stations will exchange local music—on the air and online—in an effort to cross-pollinate two of the best music scenes in America. "The Music Exchange" launches on July 7 and runs through the end of the month.

Tune in, Twin Cities: WXPN has chosen eight bands from Philadelphia to highlight on The Current. On Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout July, The Current will air each of these songs at 11 a.m. and again 9 p.m. The music will also be available to download free from thecurrent.org.

The Current is heard on KCMP 89.3 FM in the Twin Cities, 88.7 FM in Rochester and online at thecurrent.org.

Tune in, Philadelphia: The Current has chosen eight bands from Minneapolis/St. Paul to highlight on WXPN. Throughout July, WXPN will air these songs Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. and during the "Philly Local Hour" on Tuesday evenings. The music will also be available for download at xpn.org and will also be featured throughout the month as part of the XPN Morning Download on the XPN "All About The Blog": http://wxpn.blogspot.com/.

WXPN is heard on 88.5 FM in Philadelphia, 104.9 in Lehigh Valley, 90.5 FM in Worton/Baltimore, 88.7 FM in Lancaster/York, 99.7 FM in Harrisburg and online at xpn.org.
