TUNE IN: This event will be recorded for broadcast (date TBD). A collaboration of Minnesota Public Radio, the Twin Cities Daily Planet and the Friends of the Minneapolis Public Libraries will gather together members of the Iranian community in Minnesota and experts in Iranian culture to get their insights on what's going on in Iran and how they view the growing tension between the U.S. and Iran.

The conversation will include University of Minnesota professor and Iran expert William Beeman. It will also include people who have immigrated to this country from Iran and an American-born college student who recently returned from a trip to Tehran. The overriding goal of the conversation will be to bridge cultural divides, not only between Iranian immigrants and U.S. citizens, but also between those who emigrated from Iran and those who came from other places in the Middle East. Some of the subjects to be covered will include:
—The similarities and differences between the Iranian culture and other cultures of the Middle East, and how those similarities and differences inform the Iranian immigrant experience here and the larger relationship between the U.S. and Iran
—The health of the Iranian democracy
—Iran's sense of itself and its place in the world
—The way Iran is characterized by the media and by public officials This event will be recorded for potential broadcast. This event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. For more information, visit www.mpr.org and click on Events.
