Minnesota Public Radio Presents An Evening of Heroes: Women's History Month hosted by Ann Reed on March 24

February 20, 2007

WHAT: Minnesota Public Radio welcomes Ann Reed and friends for a celebration of women—both famous and little known—who cleared the path for those who followed.

In 1992, Reed wrote and recorded a song called "Heroes," a song that has an enduring legacy. Teachers base curriculum on the lyrics; children take their parents to the library to find out more about the women whose names make up the anthem's stirring coda. From Sojourner Truth to Susan B. Anthony, Ella Fitzgerald to Billie Holiday, Eleanor Roosevelt to Barbara Jordan, these women made a difference.

For this evening's presentation, Reed will be joined by Joan Griffith, Dan Chouinard, Leslie Ball, Denise Tabet, Aimee K. Bryant, Thomasina Petrus and The Twin Cities Women's Chorus.

WHEN: 8 p.m. Saturday, March 24

WHERE: Minnesota Public Radio's The Fitzgerald Theater, 10 E. Exchange St., St. Paul

TICKETS: Tickets are $20-$29. Minnesota Public Radio members receive a discount.
