About The Current Fakebook series
The Current Fakebook series brings together writers and rockers for an evening of music and insights inspired by the written word. The series takes its name from "fakebooks," which are used by musicians to improvise or learn a song on the spot. Fakebooks contain the basic framework of songs—lyrics, melodies and chord progressions—that substitute for standard sheet music.
The Current Fakebook series takes place at The Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, a cabaret setting where dancing and cocktails are welcome in the aisles.
About Amy Sedaris
In addition to acting, Amy Sedaris runs a cupcake and cheese ball business ("Dusty Food Cupcakes") out of her kitchen. She lives with her mini-rex rabbit Dusty along with her imaginary boyfriend, Ricky, in Greenwich Village, though on a recent episode of the Late Show with David Letterman, she claimed Ricky had "died." Later, on City Arts and Lectures, a radio show recorded in San Francisco, Amy said that Ricky had not really died, which is a good thing since she "couldn't handle the pain."
About Bound Stems
Recently featured in The New York Times and declared by the All Music Guide to be "very big, very soon," Bound Stems are a five-piece from Chicago with smart lyrics and complex compositions. They enjoy comparisons to hometown faves Tortoise and Wilco, as well as the Fiery Furnaces and Arcade Fire, all while creating a sound distinctly their own.
