2003 Happy Merry Lyric Contest
Rules and Regulations

Official Young People's Contest Rules
People 14 and older should enter the Adult's Contest (rules)

How to Submit your Happy Merry Lyrics:
No purchase or pledge necessary. Making a purchase or pledge will not increase your chances of winning this contest. Return on Monday, November 24th to enter. Include your parent or legal guardian's name and daytime phone number with your entry so we may contact you if you win. Include your parent or legal guardian's email address if there is one. All entries must be received by 11:59 pm CT, December 10th, 2003. Entries must be original. One entry per person. Multiple entries, if discovered, will be disqualified. At Minnesota Public Radio's discretion, submissions may be posted on the MPR website and may be read on the radio.

Eligibility:
Anyone can enter the contest except persons who on or after March 15, 2003, were or are employees of American Public Media Group or its related organizations, or members of Dare to Breathe, their immediate family, or persons living in the same household. The contest is open to any United States resident age 13 or younger. Void where prohibited by law.

Happy Merry Lyrics on the Web:
Minnesota Public Radio will post selected submissions on the Web site as they are received. Selection for Web posting is not an indicator that the submission is a contest finalist. MPR reserves the right not to post a submission.

Prize:
One winner will be selected for the song. The winning lyrics will be sung by Dare to Breathe and broadcast by Minnesota Public Radio. Winners will also receive 5 CD copies of the 2003 Happy Merry Lyric Contest Winners song collection.

Selection and notification of winners:
Winners will be selected by December 17, 2003. Winners may be notified by e-mail, telephone, or in writing. The winning lyrics will be broadcast on both the news and classical music stations of Minnesota Public Radio beginning December 18, and will be available for listening on www.mpr.org. CD copies of the collection will be mailed to the winners using the U.S. Postal Service. If Minnesota Public Radio is unable to reach the winner or the winner is unable to accept the prize within 30 days, the unawarded prize will go to the first back-up and subsequent backups thereof until the prize is awarded. The rules detailing contest eligibility and method of selecting winners are on file at Minnesota Public Radio. The chances of winning are dependent upon the number of entries. Winner's parent or guardian must provide identification and sign a release and a receipt for the prize awarded.

General:
Participants agree to the Official Rules, and that Minnesota Public Radio, American Public Radio Media Group, Dare to Breathe, and related organizations, and their agents and employees will have no liability whatsoever for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind resulting from their use of the prize or their participation in the contest. Participants also agree to grant Minnesota Public Radio and Minnesota Monthly magazine the right to use their Happy Merry Lyric Contest submission, name, image, or other likeness without further compensation for advertising, fundraising or promotional purposes. Taxes and other expenses are the responsibility of the winner. All entries become the property of Minnesota Public Radio and may be read on the air or published in print or electronic form. Entrants agree that their names may be used in association with their submissions. Entrants warrant that their submissions are their own original work.

Restrictions:
By participating in the contest, a participant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules, and by all decisions of the contest judges.
