Minnesota State Legislature supports MPR

	In a special session, the Minnesota Legislature approved state appropriations for MPR in the State Government Finance Bill.

Very late on Friday night, June 29, both the Senate and the House approved a State Government Finance bill, which was then signed into law by the governor. This bill includes $814,000 for MPR.

We are pleased that the Minnesota State Legislature supports MPR with capital funds so we can provide News and Music throughout the rural parts of our state. This partnership with the legislature will also contribute to Minnesota citizens by providing a more comprehensive and secure Emergency Alert System, a system that is considered one of the nations best because of MPR's relationship with the program.

Our three-person department of Public Affairs put in many hours and a few sleepless nights to work toward this successful result. Clearly, many MPR staffers have also helped by joining our team up at the Capital on legislative day, and others jumped in by providing research or by fielding the many calls and answering a variety of questions.

MPR does great things for Minnesota! Our state voted to work with us as a partner so that we can both do better things working together.

We thank all of you who have helped in this effort and hope you will pass on the thanks to the MPR-friendly legislators from your community.
